For professionals in the field of mental health—that is, counselors, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, and pastoral counselors.

Drawing upon his book, Contemplation & Counseling, Gregg will explore the intersection between contemplative prayer and counseling theory. He will address this question: How does contemplative thought illuminate mechanisms of change, provide guidance for establishing the essential qualities of a therapeutic relationship, and offer effective interventions for working with clients?

Workshop Goals

  1. To establish your own personal practice of contemplative prayer.
  2. To gain greater insight into how a regular practice can translate into necessary counselor qualities.
  3. To learn more about how contemplation can inform the interventions we use with our clients.
